The Weirdest Weekend of my Life | Body & Soul 2015

Let me start off by saying that if there’s some unspoken rule among bloggers as a limit to how many pictures should go in a post, this will DEFINITELY be going over that limit.

So a coworker of mine had an extra pair of tickets to a music festival she was trying to get rid of, since she was now going for free as a volunteer. She kept asking me if my friend and I wanted to buy them from her. I had never heard of this festival, and only recognized 2 names on the whole lineup.

But I figured “why not?” Who wouldn’t want to spend a weekend outside on the grounds of an Irish castle listening to bands with names like “Goat,” “Savages,” “Nightmares on Wax,” “Shit Robot,” and “Meltybrains?,” (yes the question mark is part of the name)? Basically, we’re in Ireland for a year and want to live it up! Get out of our comfort zone and experience werid/random things! Besides, I LOVE music festivals. I had already been to one foreign music festival (more on that here), and had the BEST time even though it was just 1 day. But I had never camped out at one before. So I figured I should try it out! And so, I found myself at Body & Soul 2015 during the weekend of the summer solstice.

And boy, what is it fun!

I slept in a tent and didn’t shower for 3 days! I peed in communal bathrooms (sometimes without toilet paper)! I braved the Irish wind, rain, and cold nights! I frolicked around enchanted forests and got lost and listened to some amazing bands at amazing stages hidden in the woods! Oh and of course, I enjoyed manyyyy libations!

And I can honestly say that Body & Soul 2015 was one of the weirdest, craziest, most amazing and fun weekends I’ve ever had. This music festival is so different than any other one I’ve been to. No one is there just for the music. There are no big acts, so most people (like me) didn’t know the acts on the lineup. You go to Body & Soul for the experience. For the community. The views. The relaxed atmosphere. The hidden stages and the decorated woods. For the comedy stages. The musical acts that you had never heard of it and were blown away by. For the camping experience. For the overall feeling of wander and enchantingness (that’s definitely not a word, but let’s roll with it) that you feel all weekend.

Hopefully these pictures serve a little bit of justice to the vibe of the festival that weekend! I was definitely walking around getting ideas of how I want to decorate my future backyard. Also, I discovered so many new bands I want to hear more from. I stayed up until sunrise listening to a 5-piece jam band play in the camping grounds. And I felt nothing but joy, freedom, and peace all weekend!

Thank you, Body & Soul 2015, for offering me a weekend to clear my head and feel complete bliss.
