Hangout Festival 2013 #TBT

Hangout Music Festival 2014

Because Hangout Festival is happening this weekend in Gulf Shores, Alabama, I can’t help but reminisce on my time at Hangout Fest in 2013…

Hangout will always have a special place in my heart, because it was my very first music festival. I seriously had the BEST time. Since then, I’ve gone to a few more, both in the US and abroad, and consider music festivals to be one of my absolute favorite things to take part in!

I was lucky enough to go to Hangout Festival 2013. This festival really is truly unique. I mean, it takes place on the BEAUTIFUL beaches of Gulf Shores. So, not only did we get to enjoy an amazing lineup, but we got to enjoy beautiful sunny weather, white sand, and the waves of the Gulf crashing nearby! You can’t ask for a better backdrop than that!

The lineup that year was pretty great. We saw Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon, Tom Petty, Passion Pit, Imagine Dragons, Passion Pit, Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ellie Goulding, The Shins, Grizzly Bear, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (soooo 2013), and lots of others!

This was before I knew how to take decent pictures, so I won’t bother putting up too many. But seriously…if you’re looking for a great music festival to go to in the US, consider Hangout Fest! It isn’t as big and overwhelming as Coachella or Lollapalooza but it usually has a lot of the same acts. So it’s great for a festival newbie! Note that you can’t camp on-site like you can for many other festivals, BUT since it’s on a great beach there are PLENTY of hotels/condos to rent nearby!

So pack a couple of bathing suits and head there when you get the chance! You may be a little late for this year, considering it’s this weekend. But you could always start planning ahead for next year, right?

Ugh! Now I’m in the mood for the beach and sun! But I’m in cold and rainy Dublin! Still, no complaints here. I’m having a great time!
