Bike ride through Hyde Park

Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens

Its currently soooo cold here right now in South Louisiana. I know, CRAZY right?! And although I love it, I can’t help but daydream to the times I spent wandering aimlessly around one of my favorite areas of London – Hyde Park – on an absolutely BEAUTIFUL summer day. Taking a bike ride through Hyde Park allows you to explore more of the park than by foot. It’s such a fun and cheap thing to do in London (because let’s face it, London can be PRICEY)!

By the grace of the travel gods I’ve always had beautiful weather when visiting London. So, every time I’ve been to London I’ve made it a point to go on a walk, a jog, or even a bike ride through Hyde Park. Not only is it the perfect place to people watch, but there are beautiful flowers and walkways that can keep you entertained and enchanted all day. On a sunny day, the park is packed with people biking, running, walking, roller blading, paddle-boating, etc. Notable areas include the famous “Peter Pan statue” and the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain.

Whether it was wandering around alone aimlessly with Adele’s album “21” playing, or joining the crowds of people watching roller bladers by the lake, Hyde Park is a must-do attraction for anyone visiting London. ESPECIALLY if the weather is good! And the best part is, IT’S FREE! Well ok, it’s free to walk around. But renting a city bike and exploring the park that way is also super affordable, especially by London standards. So if you’re looking for a fun and cheap thing to do in London, look no further.

Biking through Hyde Park

If you’re not in London for a long time but still want to see what Hyde Park has to offer, consider riding a bike instead of walking. That way, you can see more of the park in a shorter time! There are several bike stations around the edge of the park, just look for “BARCLAY’S BIKE HIRE.” You can rent a bike for as many hours as you want! Be aware though, that not all areas of the park are accessible by bike. In fact, many walkways ban the use of bikes, so you’ll have to walk some portions/areas with your bike. But still, bikes are a great way to get from one in of the huge park to the other if you don’t have a whole day to spend wandering around!

You can rent a bike and cycle around at your own pace, or you could even join a bike tour that includes Hyde Park! We opted to rent our own bikes and explore on our own, but we did pass several bike tours.

If you decide you want to walk around instead of cycle, here’s a short playlist to accompany you!

I highly recommend exploring Hyde Park on your next visit to London (if you haven’t already, of course)! Obviously going for a walk around the park is free. But if you’re looking for more affordable activities in London, renting a bike to explore the park that way is a great option for a cheap thing to do in London!
